It is an intimate story of Andy´s family, breaking out on the New York art scene, conquering the world of fame, and inspiring and influencing art styles across many genres. We are told through interviews with family members and friends, international experts, and art historians. It is completed with unique and authentic shots from Andy´s life across two continents.
Although we know Warhol primarily as an artist, his activities and work were directly connected to the fashion world as well. Before breaking through in the art scene, he worked as an illustrator and designed advertisements, drawings, and illustrations for well-known fashion magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Warhol's studio, "The Factory," was a meeting place in the 1960s and 1970s for many famous designers, models, and icons. He was also an avid photographer, capturing numerous figures from the fashion world, such as Yves Saint Laurent, Diana Vreeland, and Halston.
Warhol collaborated with several famous designers, including Halston, with whom he had a close friendship and creative partnership. He created graphic designs and prints that found their way into clothing and accessories. Andy Warhol's work has inspired countless fashion collections. His artworks, like the famous Campbell's soup cans and Marilyn Monroe portraits, have been used in many fashion collections and exhibitions. Warhol's influence can also be seen in the aesthetics of fashion design, where his pop art style has often been interpreted and reused.
Andy Warhol was an integral part of the fashion world, helping to pave the way for a dialogue between art and fashion, strongly influencing both the fashion of his era and visual culture more broadly.
The screenings will be introduced by art expert and founder of the PoCo Art Museum, Linnar Viik.
